Stanton’s Pure Postseason Fury: The 446-Foot Bomb + That Unhinged Dugout Celebration You Need to Relive
*Stanton’s Pure Postseason Fury: The 446-Foot Bomb + That Unhinged Dugout Celebration You Need to Relive*
If October has taught us anything, it’s this: Do NOT let Giancarlo Stanton get hot.
The Yankees were dead in the water. ALCS Game 5. Bottom of the 6th. Down 2-0 to the Cleveland Guardians, one win away from their first World Series since 2009. The crowd at Yankee Stadium was nervous.
And then Big G did what Big G does in October.
Cleveland reliever threw a mistake, and Stanton didn’t just hit it — he obliterated it. *446 FEET* to left-center. 110+ mph off the bat. No doubt from the second it left the barrel. A game-tying, soul-crushing, two-run nuke that tied it at 2-2 and completely flipped the series.
It was his 4th homer in 5 games of that ALCS. The one that won him ALCS MVP. The one that sent the Yankees to the World Series.
> “The only doubt was if that was a homer or not whenever I hit it,” Stanton would later say about his postseason moonshots.
But the home run was only half of it. The celebration is what everyone is rewatching today.
*The Unhinged Dugout Moment*
Stanton didn’t pimp it. He knew. He dropped the bat and started yelling before he even left the box.
By the time he rounded first, the dugout was already losing its mind. Aaron Judge was jumping on the railing, Jazz Chisholm was screaming with his arms in the air, and hitting coach Sean Casey — on his first day back in 2023 when Stanton did a similar 445-foot bomb — had that same look: pure awe.
When Stanton hit the dugout steps, it was chaos. Chest bumps, helmet slaps, screaming in each other’s faces. That was not a regular season home run trot. That was pure, unfiltered, postseason fury. The kind of moment that tells you a team knows it’s about to go to the World Series.
That bomb made him the first player in MLB postseason history to have multiple streaks of homering in 4+ straight playoff games — 5 games in 2020 and 4 games in 2024.
He is a different animal in October. Career.273 with 18 postseason homers as a Yankee, and when he connects, Statcast breaks.
446 feet. Game tied. Dugout unhinged.
That’s Playoff Giancarlo. And you need to relive it.
