Rockers on Broadway 33 Part One: Terrence Mann Pays Tribute to Tim Curry —
For 33 years, Rockers on Broadway has brought together the worlds of Broadway and rock ’n’ roll for an evening where extraordinary talent meets an equally important cause.
Founded by Donnie Kehr, the annual benefit supports The PATH Fund (Performing Artists That Help), a nonprofit dedicated to empowering artists, supporting arts education, and providing assistance to members of the performing arts community.
What makes Rockers on Broadway special is its spirit of collaboration: established stars share the stage with emerging performers, musical boundaries disappear, and the evening becomes a celebration of the creative community that makes New York theater so extraordinary.
Few performers have blurred the boundaries between theater, film, and rock music as deliciously as Tim Curry. His electrifying portrayal of Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Show and its cult-film incarnation, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, transformed him into an icon of theatrical rebellion.
With his wicked humor, unmistakable voice, and extraordinary command of an audience, Curry made extravagance an art form. His Broadway career also included Amadeus, My Favorite Year, and Spamalot, earning three Tony Award nominations.
Curry never simply played a character; he inhabited an entire universe, inviting audiences to abandon convention and enjoy the glorious possibilities of being different.
