A Florida Judge Just Humbled Rick Ross In Court — And The Video Is Going Viral
*MIAMI —* Rick Ross walked into bond court expecting VIP treatment. He walked out getting treated like everyone else.
The rapper, legal name William Leonard Roberts II, 50, surrendered early Thursday morning at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade after a warrant for *felony battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery.
The alleged incident happened August 28. According to police report reviewed by WSVN, a woman told police Ross confronted her over an Instagram photo she was tagged in, slapped her in the face, punched her in the chest multiple times until she couldn’t breathe, grabbed her ponytail and slammed her head into the ground.
She didn’t report it until late September, posting photos of a busted lip on Instagram first. Ross’ ex Jazzma Kendrick, 39, wrote days before the arrest: _”The day Rick busted my lip and the day I left.”_
At his first appearance Thursday afternoon, Ross was in a red jumpsuit. His attorney told Judge Mindy S. Glazer he was being held separately for his safety as a public figure and asked for an expedited release *”because he’s a celebrity.”*
Judge Glazer cut him off cold:
*”So what does that mean?”*
> *”Hello Mr. Roberts, I have no idea who you are, except as somebody here in the court who’s going to be treated fairly just like everyone else here.”*
The courtroom went silent.
Ross pleaded not guilty through his attorney. Judge Glazer set bond at *$5,000 for the felony, $1,000 for the misdemeanor*, ordered no contact with the alleged victim, no firearms, and stay-away order.
Ross’ lawyer Steve Sadow said after court: _”Mr. Roberts is being wrongfully accused by an ex-girlfriend who didn’t file a police report for a month. He is innocent and we look forward to clearing his name.”_
The clip of the judge’s line has already done 2M+ views on WorldStar and Instagram. Florida judges are not playing the celebrity card.
Ross’ next court date is October 22.
