Travis Kelce says his mom ‘made it look easy’ when it came to raising him and Jason Kelce
Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce says his mom, Donna, “made it look easy” when it came to raising him and his brother Jason Kelce.
On Wednesday’s episode of the “New Heights” podcast, co-hosted by Travis and Jason, they discussed Donna Kelce recently being named one of Glamour’s 2024 Women of the Year alongside Tina Knowles, Maggie Baird, and Mandy Teefey.
“Our mom was named one of Glamour Magazines 2024 Women of the Year,” Travis said. “Also on the cover Beyoncé’s mom, Selena Gomez’s mother, and Billie Eilish’s mom.”
“She’s in good company,” Jason added.
“It’s impressive that Momma Kelce’s made it to the top. Those are top-tier moms right there,” Travis said.
Travis shared a quote from Donna about her lived experience of raising children.
“She described what it was like being our mom, and in quotes, ‘being a mom is probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. It’s so much easier to just go to work, but raising children when they’re totally dependent on you and you’re trying to do the best you can with the limited resources you have. It’s the most daunting task I’ve ever had to do,'” Travis said.
“And mom, you made it look easy. I’m not going to lie. You made it look easy. If it was that hard for you. I’m sorry if we made it even harder on you. Cause I’m sure Jason did. I know I didn’t. I made it easy,” Travis said.
Jason responded that despite the challenges Donna experienced with raising children, his perspective of being raised by Donna was positive.
“Growing up was pretty easy. You show up lunch is packed. Breakfast is made. Free rides everywhere. It was the best,” Jason responded.
Travis then expressed his pride in his mom’s accomplishment while also praising the other women who made the list.
“Happy as hell for you, Momma. Glamour magazine, this is cool. This is cool. You look absolutely amazing, Mom. This is so good. Shout out to all the other mothers that are Women of the Year,” Travis said.
