The retired NFL star Jason Kelce Jokes About Philly Lookalike Contest: ‘Any Overweight White Guy with a Beard Looks Just Like Me’
The retired NFL star shared his hilarious thoughts on the competition during an appearance on ESPN’s ‘Monday Night Countdown’
Jason Kelce is seeing double!
The former Philidelphia Eagles center, 37, watched a Jason Kelce lookalike competition while appearing on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown on Dec. 16 — but he wasn’t too impressed with the turnout, or the result!
“Newsflash! Any overweight white guy with a beard looks just like me,” the football star said while watching a clip of the contestants who had flocked to Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square Park on Saturday, Dec. 14.
“It’s an easy competition. There is absolutely nothing unique about any of these gentlemen other than they are large people with beards,” the star — who was suited and booted for his TV appearance — said.
One of the bearded contestants, who was wearing a Fairisle zip-up, did catch the former center’s eye. “That guy is spot on,” he told host Scott Van Pelt. “That’s my new profile picture.”
And Kelce is as good as his word as his profile picture on X (formerly known as Twitter), has been updated to include a shot of the gentleman in question.
The contest saw men in Philadelphia Eagles football jerseys and baseball caps or Kelce’s signature Fairisle sweaters and flip-flops. Many of the Kelce wannabes also opted to pull the former NFL star’s favorite move of ripping off his shirt, much to Kelce, and the panel’s, amusement.
“Sometimes when you’re enjoying a few beverages and it’s cold outside…” Kelce explained of his topless antics.
However, the sports star and the panel unanimously disagreed with the winner of the contest, with Kelce revealing he’d have crowned “the sweater guy” victor.
