Details of the clothing and jewellery Diana was wearing at the time of her fatal car crash in Paris were disclosed yesterday at the inquest into her death. The French Police’s inventory of everything on the Princess’ person was produced as evidence at the hearing after Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell was questioned about her jewellery.

He told the inquest that when he arrived in Paris following the car crash in August 1997 he was given some of her personal items. Mr Burrell told the inquest he was given an envelope “containing the jewellery which the Princess was wearing when she died”. “It was quite distressing because most of the jewellery was broken minus one earring, which was still missing.”

The list of items released by the Brigade Criminelle, part of the judicial police in Paris, stated Diana had one pair of trousers and one body (an all in one swimsuit-style top), a pair of slip-on stiletto heeled Gianni Versace black satin shoes, a Giorgio Armani jacket and a black Ralph Lauren belt made of crocodile skin.

A number of items were later found in the Mercedes Diana, and Dodi Fayed were travelling in when they were fatally injured. They included a gold, kidney bean shaped earring that was slighted dented and had its clasp missing and six white pearls.

Items belonging to Dodi that were listed included his cut up clothing and two medical emergency tags with the names of doctors to be contacted in case of an emergency embossed on them. The driver of the car Henri Paul only had his mobile phone listed.
