Simone Biles spends $10,000 on private jet to see Jonathan Owens while millions suffer airport chaos
The Olympian shared her plan to fly to Detroit
With Thanksgiving marking the start of the 2024 winter holiday season, travel records are already being shattered. The TSA reported this as “the busiest Thanksgiving ever” for air travel, with 18 million Americans taking to the skies. Yet, for Simone Biles, no amount of travel chaos could deter her from spending the holiday with her husband, Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens.
In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Biles revealed her determination to celebrate Thanksgiving with Owens despite their long-distance marriage. The Olympian shared her plan to fly to Detroit to watch the Bears face the Lions and then fly back the same day.
“I’ll fly up in the morning and fly right back, just so we can still spend Thanksgiving together,” Biles said. “Holidays are revolving around sports right now, especially in the football world with them sometimes playing.”
Taking the private route
Unlike most travelers dealing with crowded airports and packed flights, Biles had an alternative-chartering a private jet. As a brand ambassador for Amalfi Jets, the 30-time world championship medalist enjoys luxury travel when her schedule demands it.
The Amalfi Jets website highlights Biles’ preference for their service, boasting, “With Amalfi Jets, Simone Biles experiences the utmost in comfort, convenience, and efficiency.”
The cost for a private flight like hers-Texas to Detroit-is estimated at $10,000 or more, ensuring Biles could focus on quality time with Owens without the hassle of commercial travel.
Despite their demanding schedules, Biles and Owens have consistently prioritized their relationship. Earlier this year, Biles balanced her Olympic preparations with Owens’ NFL season and her Gold Over America Tour. The couple often finds creative ways to show their support, from Biles attending Bears games to Owens traveling to Paris to cheer her on during the Olympics.
In September, Biles attended a Bears vs. Rams game, continuing her streak of supporting Owens whenever possible.
