Serena Williams’ second daughter is here!
The tennis star announced that she gave birth to baby No. 2 — a girl named Adira River Ohanian — on TikTok Tuesday.
“Welcome my beautiful angel,” she captioned the video.
In the clip, which was set to the tune of Bazzi’s “Beautiful,” Williams and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, were seen sitting at a table, embracing and sharing a kiss with each other before their firstborn, Olympia, jumped into her mom’s arms.
After the athlete kissed her daughter on the forehead, Williams turned to her husband, seemingly saying, “I’ll be right back,” before going to grab their newest addition to the family, who was snuggly wrapped in a baby blanket.
While Williams didn’t share the newborn’s name, her husband revealed it on his Instagram that same day.
“I’m grateful to report our house is teaming with love: a happy & healthy newborn girl and happy & healthy mama,” he wrote. “Feeling grateful. @serenawilliams you’ve now given me another incomparable gift — you’re the GMOAT.”
Ohanian continued along with a photo of his eldest daughter meeting the newborn, “Thanks to all the amazing medical staff who took care of my wife & our daughter 🙏 I’ll never forget the moment I introduced @olympiaohanian to her baby sister.”
The entrepreneur concluded the note with a bible verse that read, “Your peace would have been like a river, your well-being like the waves of the sea.”
The Olympian shocked fans with her pregnancy in May by showing up to the Met Gala with her baby bump on display.
“Was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us,” Williams captioned Instagram photos of her and her husband’s epic red carpet appearance.
Later that same month, the athlete, 41, shared a video of her 5-year-old daughter Olympia’s reaction to the news.
“Are you kidding me?” the toddler asked her parents. “Oh my God, I’m so excited.”
Williams and Ohanian, 40, welcomed Olympia in September 2017 — and the new mom barely survived the emergency C-section.
She “fought hard” to get nurses to listen to her fears and do a CAT scan, where a blood clot was discovered in Williams’ lungs.
“Being heard and appropriately treated was the difference between life or death for me.”
Watching Williams experience the “near-fatal complications” was “traumatizing” for her husband, Ohanian, 40, told the Guardian in January 2020.
Two years later, however, the couple decided to give Olympia a younger sibling.
“Whenever we’re ready, we can add to our family,” Williams explained in her Vogue cover story in April 2022 while revealing her tennis retirement.
“I definitely don’t want to be pregnant again as an athlete,” she continued at the time. “I need to be two feet into tennis or two feet out.”.
Williams and Ohanian have been married since November 2017.
