Donovan Smith, previously an offensive tackle for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has recently joined the Kansas City Chiefs’ roster.
The talented offensive tackle has signed a one-year contract with the Chiefs, which could potentially earn him up to $9 million.
During his first press conference with Kansas City, Smith made intriguing remarks about his former quarterback, Tom Brady, and the Chiefs’ superstar, Patrick Mahomes.
After spending a lengthy eight years in Tampa Bay, Smith was released by the Buccaneers in March of this year. He encountered challenges due to elbow injuries, and his recent performance did not meet the team’s expectations.
With his experience playing alongside Tom Brady and embarking on a new journey with the Chiefs, it was inevitable that questions comparing Brady and Mahomes would arise during Smith’s press conference.
Smith, who had previously played alongside the seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady, was asked by a reporter if he saw any similarities between Brady and Patrick Mahomes. Although he acknowledged that he was still getting acquainted with the Kansas City team, he had already noticed several similarities between the two quarterbacks.
“I am still trying to figure it out,” Smith said.
“You just see the dedication and hard work that they put in. [Patrick Mahomes] is really into it in tune: ‘I want things done.’
“That’s the parallels that they have, just the championship mentality that they have on and off the field. You know, those are some similarities that I have seen.”
