Peter Andre addresses Meghan Markle backlash on social media after final show on GB News

Former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star Peter Andre said farewell to GB News earlier this week as he heads off on paternity leave.

Peter Andre has faced backlash online after expressing his sympathy for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. The Mysterious Girl hitmaker claimed that the British public would “forgive” the pair if they apologised for past actions.

Earlier this week, Peter, 51, presented his last show on GB News before going on paternity leave. He will be on hand to support his wife Emily MacDonagh, 34, as she prepares to welcome the couple’s third child together.

On Sunday (17 March) Peter took to social media to thank fans for tuning into his show before saying “adios” for now. He typed to his three million followers: “After my final show on @GBNEWS I want to say thank you to everyone.

“The ratings were amazing but more importantly, the people I worked with, including the awesome @elliecostelloTV were the kindest, most supportive people I could ask for. Thank you to everyone that tuned in… so it’s ADIOS……… for now.”

Talking on GB News, he continued that the Suits actor would’ve been going through “hormonal changes” and that she had been thrust into the limelight in a “whole different way”. He added: “The British public are incredibly forgiving; I really think they are.

“It depends on the situation, of course, but if someone shows the right kind of remorse and if someone’s willing to go, ‘You know what? I messed up,’ they’re incredible.”

Following Peter’s support of Meghan and his departure message from GB News, one X user took to the micro-blogging platform and wrote: “I do like you Pete but saying that the British people would forgive Meghan & Harry & let them back into the fold showed me just how out of touch you are to real life. Shame.”

In reply, the former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star wrote: “Actually I said if people genuinely apologise and hold their hands up for things they’ve said or done ( including Harry) and of course depending what they have done […] then the British public are very forgiving. Am I wrong?” (sic)

Another commenter wrote: “The abuse Meghan has experienced is just out of bounds and disappointing you did not call this out.”

Peter also responded to this sentiment by writing: “I did call it out long last week. Maybe you didn’t watch.”

On Friday, it was revealed that Emily had experienced contractions which she blamed on her husband for making her laugh.

In a video shared to social media, the singer could be heard saying: “She’s having a Toni Braxton guys.”
