Mike Tyson BATTERS his trainer and shows off his ripped torso to leave fans thinking fight against Jake Paul, 27, is ‘already done’ despite 31-year age gap
Mike Tyson came out all gloves blazing and this was only the public work out.
The last thing a great boxer loses is his punch and the thud of leather on pads was as thunderous as of old.
But most remarkable was the hand speed of the combinations. If Iron Mike has slowed in that department at 58 then it is imperceptible.
He even impressed himself and told a crowd of several thousand in the Toyota Motor factory that the first day he went back to the gym after signing the contract to fight YouTuber Jake Paul in the Dallas Cowboys Stadium on Friday night: ‘I thought what the f**** have I done?’
Then he added: ‘I’ve got through the process and I’m feeling great right now.’
He took off his top to reveal a body as muscled as in his world champion prime. So when he was reminded that his family will all be at ringside for the fight for the ages he said: ‘My kids will see that their father is someone very special.
‘They’ll also learn not to talk back to me.’
The same lesson may be taught also to an opponent who is young enough to be his son if Tyson connects with this kind of power he demonstrated here.
That said Iron Mike left the auditorium prematurely before Paul arrived to go through his paces.
‘Going for his Horlicks and an early night,’ said one wiseacre. ‘Whatever it takes, bro.’
Tyson’s pounding of the pads was a reminder to fans that he still possesses incredible punching power.
The former two-time world champion showed off his infamous left hook as he ferociously backed his trainer into a corner of the ring.
There were occasions where Tyson was so focused on displaying his pace and power, that he threw combinations that his coach was not expecting.
Nevertheless, fans both in the arena and watching online, were left in awe of the once undisputed heavyweight champion.
One excited fan wrote: ‘Mike Tyson still got it! Jake Paul better be ready for a REAL fight!’
The clip of Tyson’s workout has even had some social media users suggesting that 27-year-old social media star, Paul, will not make it out of the first round.
‘If Tyson can unleash one of those legendary punches early on, Mike Tyson could end it before Paul’s Instagram live feed even loads. 30 seconds or less,’ wrote one account.
While another said: ‘He will back Jake up and uncork that famous punch combo and I want to see how Jake reacts to it.’
Meanwhile, Paul to a more relaxed approach to his work out, rocking up to the arena with a bizarre hairstyle resembling a chicken.
While the YouTuber turned boxer did joke around, he also displayed the plethora of combinations that he plans to use on Friday night.
The long-awaited bout, which was originally set to take place in July, will be fought at the at the AT&T Stadium in Texas on Friday night and streamed on Netflix.
