The defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs will head to Florida looking for their first win of the season, against a dangerous Jacksonville Jaguars team.

From their drops to their stars not in the game, Kansas City’s season opener was one to forget. The loss to the upstart Detroit Lions made it clear the team was missing injured tight end Travis Kelce and holdout Chris Jones. But good news came to start the week: Jones ended his holdout with a revised contract and is expected to rejoin the team.

Jacksonville is coming off a win over its divisional foe, the Indianapolis Colts, that showed Calvin Ridley was worth trading for to give Trevor Lawrence another weapon on offense. The defense limited Anthony Richardson from having a breakout game, and will hope to do the same against reigning MVP Patrick Mahomes.

NFL Week 2 odds, predictions and picks

Lorenzo Reyes: Chiefs 31, Jaguars 23
Watch the status of Travis Kelce as gametime nears, but the Chiefs under Patrick Mahomes rarely drop two in a row. The return of Chris Jones figures to be massive, and the Jaguars, despite the preseason buzz, underwhelmed a touch against a weaker Colts team they should have handled far more easily. I love KC in this spot on the rebound from the loss in the opener.

Tyler Dragon: Chiefs 26, Jaguars 22
Hard to imagine the reigning Super Bowl champions beginning the season 0-2. The Chiefs will gladly welcome back defensive tackle Chris Jones this week and perhaps tight end Travis Kelce. If Chiefs wide receivers can catches passes, the club should get the victory.

Victoria Hernandez: Chiefs 24, Jaguars 20
The Chiefs got the message: They need Chris Jones. The star defender will help Kansas City keep Trevor Lawrence on his toes enough to get the win even if Travis Kelce isn’t back.

Jordan Mendoza: Chiefs 31, Jaguars 29
The Chiefs had several miscues against Detroit, and with Chris Jones and Travis Kelce potentially back, those should be cleaned up. This game could go either way, but since the start of the 21st century, no Super Bowl defending champion has started the season 0-2. Kansas City also hasn’t lost to Jacksonville 2009, and Sunday will make it eighth straight wins over the Jaguars.
