Jamie Foxx has a new outlook on life after making it through the “darkness” of his 2023 medical emergency.
On Tuesday, Nov. 12, the actor, 56, wrote on Instagram that “No bad dayz” is a motto he now lives by.
“This is my mantra… After surviving something that I thought I would never go through,” Foxx wrote. “My good friend James who also happens to be my manager, gave me this phrase… I live by it now…”
Foxx referenced his April 2023 medical emergency, which happened while he was in Atlanta filming the Netflix movie Back in Action.
“When you come through the darkness, the light looks brighter… and while I’m at it I want to say thank you to everyone that sent up a prayer… I needed it,” he added.
The Oscar winner, who is dad to two daughters, will open up about his mystery health scare in an upcoming Netflix special titled Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was…. premiering Dec. 10.
Back in July, though, he did tell a group of people in a video shared on X that the situation began when he had a “bad headache.” “I was gone for 20 days,” he said in that video. “I don’t remember anything.”
Foxx performed the comedy special in Atlanta during a series of shows in October. “I have to thank you Atlanta you showed up and you showed out, I haven’t been on stage in 18 years but I needed the stage and I needed an audience that was made up of nothing but pure love and that’s what you were,” he wrote in an Oct. 14 Instagram post.
“When people ask me is this a stand up comedy show I say ‘No it’s an artistic explanation,’ ” he added.
Foxx finished his Nov. 12 caption by asking his followers to check out his special “if you need a spiritual tuneup right now.”
The star will return to Netflix again in early 2025 along with Cameron Diaz in Back in Action, which begins streaming Jan. 17.
