According to royal experts, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure from the Royal Family now means that Prince William and Kate Middleton have stepped up their glitzy appearances and are a Prince and Princess of Wales in waiting.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quitting as working royals has kickstarted the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s “star quality”, a royal expert has claimed.
Prince William and Kate have enjoyed appearances at several high-profile, glamorous events recently. And just last week they donned their finery and joined Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise at the London premiere of his latest movie Top Gun: Maverick.
On True Royalty TV’s The Royal Beat, the assembled experts talked about how the couple has undergone a “monumental transition” since they celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary last year.
Royal expert Duncan Larcombe explained: “They’ve swapped their wax jackets and walks with the dogs for tiaras, ball gowns and velvet, and walks down the red carpet with Tom Cruise.
“This is about that coming of age… the Prince and Princess of Wales in waiting.”Meanwhile, fellow expert and historian Tessa Dunlop added: “I think we have got to give some of the credit to Harry and Meghan because I think they forced the couple to slightly kickstart their star quality.”
Their comments come as another royal expert said the Queen admires Kate for adoring her grandson as himself, and not his title.Biographer Andrew Morton, who has penned books on Princess Diana and Meghan, says the monarch also spends time nurturing and supporting their relationship.
William and Kate met as students at St Andrews University in Scotland – and at times had a rocky romance before tying the knot 11 years ago. They now have three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – and have become a safe pair of hands for the monarchy.
“She spends a lot more time supporting and nurturing the relationship between William and Catherine than she did with Charles and Diana. It’s pretty clear she wasn’t going to make that mistake again.
His comments come following the release of his latest biography on the Queen, which is being released in her Platinum Jubilee year. And in the book, simply titled The Queen, he reveals how the monarch was “positively playful” on William and Kate’s wedding day.
He writes in the book: “The Queen was positively playful on the day of her grandson’s nuptials, ‘practically skipping’ according to one observer, absolutely thrilled at the way the public had reacted to the royal newlyweds.
“She had a sense that the future of the Royal Family, her family, was now secure. The monarchy was once again held in admiration and affection by the masses.”
