Donald Trump sends five words message to the people of Iran amid US combat operations on the country
President Donald Trump addressed the Iranian people directly Saturday in an eight-minute video posted to Truth Social, as the United States—alongside Israel—launched what he described as “major combat operations” against the Islamic Republic.
In the message, Trump warned civilians to seek shelter amid intense airstrikes targeting Iran’s missile sites, naval forces, and other military infrastructure. He explicitly called for regime change, urging Iranians to overthrow their government once U.S. forces complete their objectives.
“To the great, proud people of Iran, I say tonight that the hour of your freedom is at hand. Stay sheltered. Don’t leave your home. It’s very dangerous outside, bombs will be dropping everywhere. When we are finished, take over your government.
It will be yours to take. This will be probably your only chance for generations. For many years you have asked for America’s help, but you never got it… Now you have a president who is giving you what you want, so let’s see how you respond.
America is backing you with overwhelming strength and devastating force. Now is the time to seize control of your destiny and to unleash the prosperous and glorious future that is close within your reach. This is the moment for action. Do not let it pass.”
Trump framed the operation as a response to Iran’s continued nuclear ambitions, missile development, and support for regional proxies, claiming prior U.S. strikes in June had already damaged—but not eliminated—the regime’s capabilities. He also urged Iranian military personnel to lay down their arms, promising immunity, while warning of “certain death” for those who resist.
The joint U.S.-Israeli campaign, dubbed “Operation Epic Fury” by the Pentagon, has drawn sharp international reactions. Iran vowed retaliation, with reports of missile launches toward Israel and attacks on U.S. bases in the region. Explosions were reported in Tehran and other cities, and several Gulf states hosting American forces confirmed incoming strikes.
White House officials indicated the operations could continue for days, with the stated goal of eliminating imminent threats and paving the way for a “safe” future for Iranians. Critics, including some congressional Democrats, warned of risks for broader regional escalation and potential U.S. casualties.
Trump concluded his address by emphasizing America’s commitment, stating the strikes aim to defend U.S. interests and allies while offering Iranians a historic opportunity for freedom.
