Colin Cowherd Reacts To What Patrick Mahomes Said About His Contract

Back in the summer of 2020, Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes inked an unprecedented deal with the storied NFL franchise that shook the sports world to its core.

Mahomes signed a deal worth half a billion dollars ($503 million) over the course of a decade, which is something never seen before in professional sports in this country.

Although Mahomes had only won one Super Bowl title and is still young, few argued with the Chiefs’ logic for signing him to such a massive contract.

Three years later, and another Super Bowl title added to his credit and the team’s trophy case in Kansas City, Mahomes is making less per season than six other star quarterbacks.

Even though Mahomes deserves to be the highest-paid quarterback for arguably the rest of his career, he’s thinking more about his legacy rather than dollars and cents moving forward, which Colin Cowherd of Fox Sports praised.

With money not being the driving force for Mahomes moving forward, the Chiefs can build a championship-caliber team around him for many years to come, which is obviously great news for the franchise.

Heading into the 2023 NFL season, Mahomes and company will look to defend their title and will have plenty of competition in the AFC, which is a conference that is now stacked with title contenders.

Although the Chiefs are always a heavyweight and more than capable of contending, it will be tough to compete in 2023 and will certainly put Mahomes to the test.
