He invited them to the White House and then joked that it was unfortunate that he also had to invite the equally victorious women — the implication being that women’s sport are inferior.

“We’re going to have to bring the women’s team, you do know that. I do believe I probably would be impeached,” he said.

It was typical Trump, gross misogyny wrapped up in a pathetic attempt at humor. This is that same “locker room” talk that Republicans mentioned when Trump’s “grab ’em by the p*ssy” remarks exploded into the headlines. The truth is that Trump and men like him don’t see women as people.

While the men’s team ultimately attended Trump’s State of the Union Address and visited the White House, the women’s team declined. They were right to do so and Knight was right to speak out. At this point, silence helps no one except these sexist monsters.
