Breaking News: Chiefs Coach Andy Reid To Become NFL’s Highest-paid head coach…

Andy Reid is set to become the highest-paid head coach in NFL history – as the Kansas City Chiefs look to reward the three-time Super Bowl champion for his recent success

Andy Reid could become the highest-paid NFL head coach ever after winning three Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Earlier this month, the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 to win Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas. Patrick Mahomes was the star, throwing for 333 yards and two touchdowns. He was named Super Bowl MVP for the third time in his glittering career.

Even though he thought about retiring before the championship game, Reid, 65, is ready to come back for a 26th NFL season. He’s expected to start talking with the Chiefs soon about a new contract. This deal could make Reid the best-paid coach in football.

Brett Veach, the Chiefs general manager, is also getting ready to sign a new deal. This will replace the last two years on the contracts they both signed after the 2019 season – when Kansas City won Super Bowl LIV and started their winning streak.

Not only did Denver give up a first-round pick in 2023 and a second-rounder in 2024, they also signed Payton to a contract that will see him earn between $85m (£67m) and $100m (£78.8m) over five years. It’s thought that Reid could soon overtake Payton – and might even beat Bill Belichick’s $20m (£15.8m) yearly salary with the Patriots before he left in January.

Since their Super Bowl LVIII win, the Chiefs have given defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo a new three-year contract – making him one of the highest-paid in his role – and extended the contract of special teams coordinator Dave Toub. It’s expected that Reid and Veach could get new deals by next month’s Annual League Meeting, which takes place from March 24-27.
