Ben Affleck Showed No “Commitment” or “Interest” in Fixing His and Jennifer Lopez’s Marriage
Lopez ultimately filed divorce because it was “time to move on” from their relationship.
The earliest signs of trouble came in mid-May, after eagle eyed fans of the relationship noticed that Affleck and Lopez weren’t seen with each other for 47 days. At the time, their last public appearance together, red carpet or otherwise, was on March 30. The lack of time spent in the public eye was initially chalked up to Lopez’s Met Gala co-chair duties and her project, Kiss of the Spider Woman, while Affleck was filming the Accountant 2 in Los Angeles. Once summer hit, Affleck was spotted multiple times without his wedding ring, Lopez spent her birthday and went on several vacations without him, and the couple sold their $61 million Beverly Hills home.

Lopez and Affleck officially married in Georgia on August 20, 2022, one month after an impromptu wedding in Las Vegas. The former couple re-kindled their romance in 2021, nearly 20 years after meeting on the set of Gigli. Affleck and Lopez were engaged to be married, but postponed their wedding in 2003 and later broke up in 2004. Starting their relationship over with a brand new perspective was the subject of Lopez’s 2024 documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told and its corresponding album, This Is Me…Now.
