I would have donated my measly $400,000 a year too if I made money like he did!! And yes he works at 2 am making AI Videos President Donald Trump made an estimated $2.2 billion to $2.4 billion during the first year of his second term in office!
WHERE THE $2.2 BILLION CLAIM CAME FROM
Over the last few days, posts on Threads, X, and TikTok have claimed Trump’s income jumped by over $2 billion since returning to office in January 2026.
The posts point to his business empire: Trump Organization real estate, licensing deals, Truth Social stock, crypto ventures, and brand deals.
However, as of September 7, 2026, no official financial disclosure, SEC filing, or major outlet like Forbes or Bloomberg has confirmed a $2.2B – $2.4B annual income figure for Trump’s first year of term 2.
Presidents do file annual financial disclosures, but they report assets and income in broad ranges, not exact totals. The most recent public filings do not show a single-year income spike of that size.
THE $400,000 PRESIDENTIAL SALARY
By law, the U.S. President earns $400,000 per year.
During his first term, Trump announced he would donate his salary every quarter to different federal agencies. There has been no official announcement yet about his salary for term 2.
For most Americans, $400,000 is a massive amount. But compared to income from billion-dollar businesses, critics online argue it’s “measly” — which is where the viral quote comes from.
“WORKING AT 2AM MAKING AI VIDEOS”
The second part of the viral comment refers to Trump’s team’s heavy use of AI-generated content.
Since 2024, the @realDonaldTrump accounts have posted AI videos, memes, and campaign ads — often late at night. There’s no evidence Trump himself is editing them at 2am. It’s most likely his digital media team scheduling posts.
The joke stuck because it paints a picture of a billionaire president still “grinding” on content.
