“FOOTBALL IS BACK: Chiefs vs Rams Kicks Off Tonight At Arrowhead. Here’s 3 Players You NEED To Watch Before The Real Season Starts” Hits: Urgency + Value + Clicks
Football is back at Arrowhead.
Tonight the Kansas City Chiefs host the Los Angeles Rams to kick off the 2026 NFL preseason. Kickoff is set for 9:00 PM WAT at Arrowhead Stadium, and while it’s only an exhibition, there’s plenty to prove.
Both teams reinvented themselves this offseason — and even made a trade with each other. Veteran defensive back Trent McDuffie, a key piece of KC’s Super Bowl LVII and LVIII runs, is now in Los Angeles. Expect that storyline to follow both rosters all night.
WHAT TO EXPECT: STARTERS SIT, BACKUPS BALL OUT
Don’t expect Mahomes or Stafford for more than a handful of snaps.
For the Rams, Stetson Bennett will start at QB, not rookie Ty Simpson.
For the Chiefs, look for Justin Fields and rookie Garrett Nussmeier to split time. Mahomes is currently listed as questionable with a knee injury.
That means tonight is all about jobs. Second and third-stringers fighting for a roster spot will get the bulk of the work.
3 PLAYERS TO WATCH TONIGHT
1. Justin Fields, Chiefs QB
With Mahomes out, Fields gets a chance to show he can run Andy Reid’s offense. His legs + KC’s weapons could be a problem.
2. Xavier Worthy, Chiefs WR
The speedster is questionable with a shoulder, but if he plays, watch for one deep shot.
3. Stetson Bennett, Rams QB
He gets the first crack to run the Rams’ offense. With Myles Garrett also questionable, LA will lean on Bennett to move the ball.
INJURY NOTES
Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes QB – Knee, questionable. Xavier Worthy WR – Shoulder, questionable. Ashton Gillotte DE – Hamstring, questionable
Rams: Myles Garrett DE – Lower Body, questionable. Alaric Jackson OT – Illness, questionable

THE BOTTOM LINE
Preseason scores don’t count, but evaluations do. This is the first look at KC’s new depth and LA’s post-McDuffie secondary.
Oddsmakers have KC favored by 1.5 with an O/U of 36.5. Most early predictions have it close: 20-14, 24-17.
Arrowhead in August. Football is back.
