In the aftermath of the Kansas City Chiefs’ 40-22 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, tight end Travis Kelce expressed his disappointment, noting, “We haven’t played that bad all year.”

“We haven’t played that bad all year,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end told reporters after the game. “You don’t lose like that without everything going bad”

While speaking to the media after the lopsided defeat in New Orleans on Sunday, Feb. 9, the tight end praised the Philadelphia Eagles, who he said bested the Chiefs in all “three phases” of the game.

“[We] couldn’t get it going offensively,” Kelce, 35, told reporters in the locker room after the game. “I mean they just got after us on all three phases and then on top of that, you know, turnovers, penalties, playing behind the sticks on offense.”

Kelce added that the Chiefs dropped passes and didn’t execute like they have throughout the season.

“We haven’t played that bad all year,” he said. “You don’t lose like that without everything going bad.”

The NFL star added his team never gave up, despite getting shut out for most of the game.

“This team is gonna fight til the end forever and you saw that,” he said. “Even with the score late, we were always gonna fight.”

Had the Chiefs pulled out the victory, it would have been the largest come-from-behind win in Super Bowl history — and they would have made NFL history repeating as champions for a third-straight year.

Instead, Kelce & Co. are contemplating a rare loss after going 15-2 during the regular season.

“We just couldn’t find that spark,” the New Heights podcaster said. “We couldn’t find that momentum.”
